A record 26 supertall skyscrapers were completed last year. The previous record was 18, set just two years ago. To qualify as “supertall,” a building must be at least 300 meters (984 feet). Among the newest supertall buildings is New York City’s Central Park Tower. At 131 stories, it is the highest residential structure in the world. Meanwhile, the Skyscraper Center website lists 100 supertall buildings that are currently under construction.
