Facebook and Instagram are countering anti-vaccine rhetoric with educational pop-up windows that appear when users search for vaccine-related information.

In the U.S., the windows will connect users to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Other users will be directed to the World Health Organization.

CDC spokeswoman Kristen Nordlund applauded the effort and said that fighting vaccine myths and misinformation “is a shared responsibility.” In the meantime, the U.S. measles outbreak has risen to 1,200 confirmed cases in 31 states this year, threatening its elimination status. Public officials are blaming the problem on anti-vaccination content online.
