The U. S. appears set for a prolonged trade fight. In the latest tit-for-tat, Turkey’s President Recep Erdogan this week announced a boycott on U. S. electronic products. The move is a response to the Trump administration’s tariffs on Turkish steel and aluminum, and the demand to release an American pastor held by Turkish authorities. This year alone, China, Canada and the European Union have all entered the ring of trade protectionism. The next trade war move is anyone’s guess, but the long-term shift in globalization’s popularity is predicated on the direction of social mood.
