An Interview with Alan Hall
Alan Hall, senior researcher at the Socionomics Institute, presented, “Using Stock Market Indexes to Anticipate Social Events,” to the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. on December 16, 2015. The event gathered military officers, senior federal health directors, distinguished professors, researchers and experts in technology and innovation to discuss issues related to global health. Hall introduced socionomic theory and demonstrated its practical application via his studies of Russia and epidemic disease.
In this interview, Hall discusses the conference and shares some of his key insights regarding epidemics. He explains how you can examine trends in the stock market to determine if a small disease outbreak is likely to expand into an epidemic — research with important implications for personal and global health.
