Back in the late 1990s, my high school political science class attended a lecture by the former president of Poland, Lech Walesa. The most memorable moment of that encounter was hearing about his dream of a United States of Europe.
Currently, that dream is looking more and more like a nightmare. Rampant unemployment, political conflict, the potential for a Greek default and a tear in the European Union linger heavily in the air—despite multiple bailouts.
