Germany-MeaslesA February 23 article in International Business Times says almost 600 cases of measles have been recorded in Berlin since October. The outbreak is the worst since 2001 in Germany, where officials hoped to eradicate the disease by 2015. In addition, a February 21 National Geographic article says seven patients have become infected by highly drug-resistant bacteria found on equipment used to treat ducts in the liver and pancreas. The article says 179 other people were exposed to the bacteria and are at risk of developing infections.
