A November 28 article in der Spiegel says human traffickers are making billions of dollars from fees charged to refugees headed for Europe. Since January, more than 150,000 asylum seekers have landed in Italy on their way to countries such as Sweden, Germany and Switzerland. Traffickers are charging such people as much as 10,000 euros each. They also charge for such services as protection and boat rentals.
