In an April 2 Mood Riff, we highlighted yet another extreme building project: California’s $68 billion train from San Francisco to Los Angeles. An August 4 article in American Interest magazine calls the train “the country’s biggest and most misguided energy boondoggle.” Congress cut federal funding for the project, but California Governor Jerry Brown is “fixated on moving forward anyway using state funds.”
