A September 9 CNET News article says India’s government is monitoring emails, Web browsing, Skype and other Internet activities by Indian citizens. These activities are being carried out “in contrast with the government’s rules and notifications for ensuring communications privacy.” The Asian-Pacific Financial Forecast notes that India’s Sensex Index has been moving sideways for the past few years. Its currency, the rupee, has fallen 22% since its high in May. APFF says the rupee’s drop has raised fears that India’s currency is “playing the same lead role that the Thai Baht played at the start of the 1997-1998 Asian Financial Crisis.”
