An August 3 NPR article says television has taught viewers that “explosive, violent death is an integral part of serious storytelling.” The article focuses on Breaking Bad, which will begin its final run of eight episodes on August 11. The series follows the transformation of its lead character, Walter White, from drug dealer to cold-blooded killer. These days, according to the article, “if you go looking for premium, celebrated television dramas that don’t involve a lot of bloody kills, you will narrow your options considerably.”
