December 6 marked the grand opening of Walt Disney World’s “New Fantasyland” expansion — a more luxurious, character-driven addition that nearly doubled the size of this theme park section.

This largest expansion in the Orlando landmark’s history also ushers in the first-ever opportunity for adults to purchase alcohol in the Magic Kingdom. Why did Disney decide now was the time to make “Fantasyland” even more extravagant and offer alcohol in a children’s theme park?
