And, from Mulberry to Mizrahi, running themes on the catwalk included “bright colors,” “high-waisted and wide-legged trousers,” and — towering above them all — “platform shoes.” Writes one September 11 Hollywood Today article: “Fashion Trend: 70’s Plateau Shoe Is On Its Way Back… the colors and patterns were wild.” Our May 2012 Socionomist presents a riveting chart that illustrates a historic parallel between a trend in rising shoe heights and falling stock prices. There, The Socionomist reveals: “At the end of a rally phase of a bear market, the fashionable literally lift themselves back toward former heights with several inches of corked footwear.”
