Put Yourself A Step Ahead of
“Unpredicted” Social Change:

The Socionomist Is Uniquely Designed to Help You.

When Bob Prechter launched The Socionomist in 2009, he wanted a publication that you could count on to forecast radical changes — changes that could prove crucial to your ability to survive and thrive in coming years, and changes that no other publication sees coming.

The Socionomist follows few conventions. It follows no regular markets or topics of discussion. Its mandate is simply this: The Socionomist puts readers ahead of tomorrow’s news, zeroing in on the important social trends that will shape your world in the foreseeable future. Each issue warns you about dangerous pitfalls and alerts you to exciting opportunities emerging from trends in society.

Judging from the prescient insights published in its short existence, The Socionomist been an enormous success. Here is just some of what you could have read ahead of time in The Socionomist:

  • Mood in the Middle East” (Dec. 2010) was weeks ahead of the violence and shockwaves of protest that changed the political landscapes of Egypt, Tunisia, Yemen and beyond.
  • Authoritarianism” (April 2010) forecasted increased Internet regulations, months ahead of the Wikileaks controversy, and warned of a possible cyber war.
  • The “Authoritarianism” report also warned of unprecedented new forms of government control. Since then, news stories include secret GPS controls on cars, airport pat-downs, document checks on domestic U.S. train travel and more.
  • The Coming Collapse of a Modern Prohibition” (July 2009) anticipated escalating violence surrounding Mexico’s deadly drug war, and the resulting growth of social tolerance toward marijuana use.
  • The Developing European Tinderbox” (Dec. 2009) was months ahead of the biggest story in Europe in 2010 — the re-kindling of old hostilities and the possible dissolution of the euro.
  • Escalating Threats in Cyberspace” (March 2010) forecast the rise of “more prevalent and increasingly vicious” computer viruses. Several months later, the “Stuxnet” virus had reportedly infected Iran’s nuclear facilities; a follow-up article in The Socionomist cited reliable sources who described Stuxnet as “the best malware ever.”

And that’s just scratching the surface. The Socionomist also…

  • Forecast that Russia would invade its southern neighbor — a year before it happened.*
  • Anticipated both an increase in environmental accidents and setbacks for the environmental movement — ahead of the Gulf Oil Spill.*
  • Predicted that governments would attempt to gain the authority to shut down large blocks of the Internet — months before U.S. Senator Lieberman introduced a bill to do just that.
  • Expected a spike in Middle East tensions (forecast before the political protests that began in December 2010).
  • Called for the fear of terrorism to become a justification for increased government surveillance.
  • Forecast a near 70% decline in Russia’s major stock index.*
*Published in pre-Socionomist Special Reports.

The mainstream media cannot bring you these insights — They simply extrapolate current trends into the future. It’s the same inability that causes Wall Street, the government and the military to miss “unpredictable,” seismic shifts in the financial, political and social world.

The difference with The Socionomist is that it uses a specific model to forecast change. That is, it is built on the radical notion that changes in social mood motivate changes in social events. That sounds simple, and it is. It is also the key insight that enables The Socionomist to consistently “see around the corner” and predict events that no one else sees coming.
