North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un kicked off 2018 with both a nuclear threat to the U.S. and a hint at conciliation with South Korea. U.S. President Trump acknowledged that “talks are a good thing” but tweeted, “I too have a Nuclear Button, but it is a much bigger & more powerful one than his.” Despite the caustic tone, just days later Kim accepted an offer from South Korea to resume peace talks.
