Leonardo Da Vinci’s painting “Salvator Mundi” smashed the art world’s record books this week with a $450 million sale at auction.

The purchase eclipsed the $300 million private sale of Willem de Kooning’s painting “Interchange” from 2015. The Da Vinci work fetched more than triple its previous purchase price of $127.5 million from just four years ago.
