Social Mood Conference  |  Socionomics Foundation

September 14, 2017

In Barcelona, hundreds of thousands of Catalans rallied for independence from Spain this week. An upcoming secession referendum on October 1st is under fire from the federal government, which considers the vote to be illegal. Reports indicate police officers are attempting to quash preparations for the referendum, and Spain’s public prosecutor has ordered a criminal probe of more than 700 Catalan mayors who have vowed to allow the vote to proceed.

Secession has been a hot topic in Catalonia for years, and it’s popping up elsewhere around the globe, too, including in the U.S.
